* MSN Folder Numbers *

This is the next step on from "Hello World", it is a VB (very basic!!) program that will convert a Microsoft Passport email address to the string of numbers used by the MSN Messenger program to create folders with that string at the following path -

C:\Documents and Settings\UserProfileName\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\###########

* Installation *

Run the setup.exe and it will install the program and place a link on your Start Menu. If the computer has an Internet connection and all the necessary .Net components are not installed it will download and install those components. You will be able to uninstall the program via the Control Panel/Add Remove Programs.

* Issues *

If the computer is not connected to the Internet and has not got the components installed it will probably be necessary to download and install the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0. This is available as a redistibutable package at http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/updates/default.aspx.

Chose to download .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package.

If your OS is not up to date it might also be necessary to download the latest Microsoft Windows Installer. To find this search for "Windows Installer" at Microsoft Downloads.

The program works fine in Windows XP SP2, in W2K the menu bar appears as black, but it is otherwise functional.

I have not found an email address where the numbers have not turned out correctly, if you do let me know.

I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE THIS PROGRAM WILL CAUSE ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER BUT IT COMES WITH NO GUARANTEES AND YOU USE IT ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
